Psychonauts 2 is one of the biggest cult classics in video games. So much Notch wanted to fund the development of the game entirely. Thanks to crowd-funding on Fig along with investors the game has been in full development since 2017 with a trailer provided at The Game Awards 2018 in December 2019.
On Twitter, it was confirmed that both Tim Schafer and Jack Black will be at E3 2019's Coliseum to demo Psychonauts 2.
It's not clear what this demo will contain or what version of the game will be present. Currently, only an alpha has been shown.
Psychonauts 2 takes place after the events of the VR game Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin. With protagonist Raz having assisted Sasha Nein and Milla Vodello in rescuing the head of Psychonaut Truman Zanotto. Schafer has stated that this sequel will focus on Raz's family and their curse along with Raz discovering what a "girlfriend" means.
Psychonauts 2 is now in development for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
