The soulslike role-playing action game, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, was first announced in September 2021, and more about the game was unveiled at the 2024 Xbox Games Showcase by 505 Games and Leenzee Games. It's a game where we immerse ourselves in the dark beauty of medieval China's landscapes as we fight against an unknown force in the violent closing years of the Ming Dynasty.

Though based on real events, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers follows the fictional protagonist Bai Wuchang as she seeks the truth. As Wuchang faces up against a range of demonic enemies, the latest gameplay trailer showcased her in visually stunning actions.

In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, we take the role of Wuchang, a formidable pirate fighter cursed with demonic blood and beset by amnesia who, while battling the terrible Ornithropy sickness, must face the unknowns of her enigmatic past. Her condition grants her unnatural abilities as she can sprout wings and fly, and the most noticeable sign of Bai's curse is her left arm, which is covered in feathers.

Given the era, Bai will also come across actual historical personalities on her quest. As Wuchang pursues the truth, she'll go through ruins that have been overgrown, temples that have been forgotten, and shadowy passages that are laden with danger. Your decisions, the truths you discover, and the friends you choose to trust will dictate the outcome you reach as you reconstruct Wuchang's memories.

Similar to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers offers a combination of actual history from the late Ming Dynasty and fantasy fiction by incorporating real-life historical personalities such as Zhang Xianzhong and Li Dingguo. How you confront these characters will set in motion rich quest lines that will span multiple chapters and give you choices in how to talk to them, all of which can have different consequences.

As you explore linked vast open worlds, you'll come across chisel fragments and journal scraps that alter the plot and offer multiple possible endings. The story is filled with NPCs who know about these chisel fragments, and it's up to you to pick who to partner up with to uncover their secret power. Your choices here will have a lasting impact on Shu's destiny as the eerie story progresses step by step.

Similar to Elden Ring, one of the best features of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is its non-linear adventure and dynamic fighting system. You get to decide our course and the order in which you encounter the different bosses. Obviously, due to its Soulslike nature, the gameplay is shrouded in difficulties and death as we immerse ourselves in the game's deep narrative.

You are in a constant battle against monsters, spectral enemies, and even Wuchang's demons, and brutal boss encounters with multiple phases that will challenge your focus and strength. The game offers a wide range of weapons, including strong double-handed axes, long spears, longswords, and swift one-handed swords.

Each type of weapon comes with a comprehensive set of talents, which encourages you to play around and learn a variety of techniques depending on your preferred fighting style. Your Ornithrophy magic accumulation and playstyle are affected by weapon and category. Other gameplay features such as parry, dodge, dash, and block are also available in the game.

Although a specific release date is still TBD, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is expected to be out in 2025. Leenzee Games is now in the final phase of development, with plans to release it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC while on Xbox Game Pass from launch day.
