Surviving Mars is an upcoming sci-fi city builder that has players attemtping to colonize the Red Planet without dying horribly in the process. Developed by Haemimont Games, of Tropico fame, and published by Paradox, the title has a couple of highlights to it. Colonists will have individual strengths and weaknesses that will end up affecting things around the colony. They each have four stats that require looking after (Health, Sanity, Comfort, Morale) while also boasting different traits, like Nerd or Hypochondriac. Mars itself will have secrets worth exploring, that may just end up playing into the research system which combines static and randomized research.

As explained in the developer diary about the vision behind the game, Surviving Mars will depart from the campaign-oriented direction of Tropico titles, focusing on its sandbox potential. The two other developer diaries focus on Resources, required in order to become self-sufficient and Space Domes which provide space for buildings. The weekly Let's Play series will take place on Thursdays at 17:00 CET. The streams surrounding Resources and Space Domes can be found on the ParadoxExtra Youtube channel. Surviving Mars is set to release in Spring 2018.
