Surviving Mars: Green Planet, the title's second expansion, is set to launch at some point this summer, publisher Paradox Interactive announced today.

Where the first expansion, Space Race, introduced AI-controlled colonies as competitors, Green Planet's main focus will be that of terraforming Mars and making it a place that can be lived in, instead of merely survived.

Surviving Mars: Green Planet will let players seed the Red Planet's soil with a variety of seeds. Low maintenance ones can improve the soil's quality, enabling more complex plants to thrive. You'll also be able to take on special projects, like melting the polar caps or capturing ice asteroids. These projects not only have a lasting impact on the planet but can also cause natural disasters.

A new expansion means new buildings and Surviving Mars: Green Planet will introduce seven new structures. Where the GHG factory is used to release greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere, the Forestation Plant boosts vegetation production, while the Water Pump is your go-to building when it comes to filling lake beds. You can follow Green Planet on Steam or check out its Announcement Trailer.
