Gran Turismo 7’s July Update Gets Delayed to August

Gran Turismo 7’s creator Kazunori Yamauchi teased the update with car silhouettes like he always does.

Gran Turismo 7 has been getting updates regularly since its release in March of 2021. These updates are published monthly and usually restricted to four cars, quality-of-life updates, and if GT7 players are lucky, a new circuit. The updates are announced by the creator of the series, Kazunori Yamauchi, through a Twitter post, including the car’s silhouettes. This gives players an edge on what’s the come and gives them a brief time to guess which cars are going to be added.

This month, however, the announcement of the update was delayed for a few days. In the Twitter post, Yamauchi states the update drops on the 7th of August. The upcoming cars are still posted under the statement and seems like the players of Gran Turismo 7 are getting a mixed bag of vehicles, from classic muscle cars to Japanese ambulances. So far, every car in the screenshot has been identified. Those are:

GR Corolla Morizo Edition ‘22

Toyota HiMedic Ambulance ‘21

Chevrolet Corvette C1 ‘58

Maserati MC20 ‘20

As we said early on, the car selection this month is quite odd because the list consists of a supercar, a hot hatch, a classic muscle, and a van. While most racing games keep their integrity with high prestige or well-known cars, Gran Turismo likes to deviate from this form factor and add unique cars to their roster. In the previous updates, Polyphony Digital added Toyota Alphard, a luxurious van very popular in the Chinese and Philippines market. Although most people were expecting complaints, the community really liked the unique addition, and this time around they are adding a popular van in the Japanese market that is usually used for paramedical purposes to the roster.

The delay in the update comes from the premiere of the new Gran Turismo movie that is going to be released in August. Currently, there is a showcase in Amsterdam and due to most of the office crew being in the Netherlands and seeing the premiere, therefore the new update had to be delayed a bit. Not only that, but Polphony Digital, the developers of the game, is actually hiding something that fans aren’t supposed to see yet.

We mentioned the tracks not being able to be companied by cars all the time, but according to the leak for the next update, players will finally have a new track to drive on, and it's going to be Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, located in Canada. So far, the leak only shows one layout, but there is a high chance of multiple layouts of the track being featured in the future. Keep in mind that the last track added to Gran Turismo 7 was the pseudo-Grand Valley Speedway called Grand Valley Highway 1, added back in February, so people have been waiting for a new track for a very long time.

Gran Turismo 7’s July, or rather the August update, will be released on the 7th of August for PS5 only.
