Google Stadia Updates Still Plugging Along With More Free Games

Google Stadia subscribers can pick up a few more releases for free, bringing the total to 22 free games.

Google Stadia, the online gaming streaming service, didn't exactly launch with the punch the tech giant wanted to. Now, partially that fault lies with the company, with executives like Phil Harrison claiming that internet providers would just figure out a way to solve a data management issue for them. That is one powerfully dumb statement.

On the other hand, the underwhelming rollout is also a bit understandable on the time constraints Google wanted to get in on the market. Console competitors are in the midst of launching streaming services of their own, as well as new hardware. So, at first, a Google Stadia Pro subscription may have felt a bit deflated for first adopters.

Since then, however, Google Stadia has been getting consistent, if small, updates to the platform. In the Stadia's latest update, subscribers can pick up a few more releases for free, bringing the total to 22 free games. Here are the four additions:

- Strange Brigade
- Metro 2033 Redux
- Kona
- Just Beats & Shapes

For those wondering why only the first Metro game is included, Google Stadia has a history of launching one game at a time, giving their audience time to finish one, before moving to the next. The same happened with the Tomb Raider games.

Other games Google Stadia Pro offers for free include PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the Panzer Dragoon Remake and Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid. The latter is a decent licensed fighting game, which has been getting its own share of consistent support. There is a good variety of entertaining releases to play if you're a member now. That's ultimately a good thing.

As a kicker, the blog post reveals that people who own a Chromebook can claim three free months of Google Stadia Pro. Devices released after June 2017 are eligible for this offer and only in select countries. The rollout is still very slow, after all.

Google Stadia has been mentioned in more upcoming releases recently. Cyberpunk and Marvel's Avengers will be on Google Stadia, as well as the upcoming PGA Tour 2K21.
