Since the launch of Fallout 76, Bethesda's reputation has been in free fall. The game was a bug-filled mess with lacking content. The post-launch wasn't any better, with Bethesda heavily pushing the Atomic Shop with misleading discounts and pay-to-win microtransactions. Now, Bethesda has taken it a step further. Offering paid memberships called Fallout 1st.

Recently, Bethesda announced they would be launching private servers soon. However, the service would be paid and now we know how much it'll cost. According to charging either $12.99 a month or $99.99 a year for the use of private servers.

Other "benefits" include unlimited storage for your components, placement fast travel point with a stash, Sleeping Bag, and more, 1,650 Atoms per month, Ranger Armor outfit, and unique emotes and icons. The unlimited storage is a huge advantage as players are given finite storage, forcing players to manage their supplies. Now you can just pay for unlimited storage, a major gameplay advantage.

The Survival Tent is another gameplay advantage. Allowing Fallout 1st members to transport a mobile living area complete with all your basic needs to sleep and craft, including a second custom fast travel station.

Drop the new Survival Tent to quickly set up a forward operating base when you’re roughing it out in the wilderness during your next adventure. The Survival Tent comes complete with a Stash, Sleeping Bag, Scrapbox, Cooking Station, and even an instrument to help you wind down after a day of exploring Appalachia. Once placed, it will also act as a second fast travel point in addition your main C.A.M.P., giving you even more freedom to travel anywhere in the map without spending caps! You’ll be able to deploy your Survival Tent from your Favorites wheel.

There you have it. A premium priced game from Bethesda has a free-to-play system incorporated into its gameplay. Giving players advantages for the price of a streaming service like Netflix, UPlay+, Xbox Game Pass or EA Access. But unlike those services, this is just for one game.

This is a new low of Bethesda. A company once revered for its single-player projects such as The Elder Scrolls franchise, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, and Doom (2016) has fallen. Without a year the company has taken that beloved reputation and soured it. All for a live service premium priced game that plays and functions like a free-to-play game.

Fallout 76 is now available for PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
