2017's Mass Effect Andromeda was negatively received by many, which had many worried about the future of the franchise. With Anthem on the horizon and a 4th Dragon Age game in development, fans troubled that the series was finished. According to BioWare, that's not true.

Speaking to Polygon BioWare's Darrah and Hudson spoke openly about Mass Effect and its future. Darrah and Hudson confirmed that Mass Effect isn’t going anywhere despite the missteps in Andromeda.

“We’re definitely not done with Mass Effect,” Darrah said. “There’s a lot of stories to be told. We could pull on the threads we put down with Andromeda; we could pull on threads from Mass Effect 3. There’s a lot of interesting space to be explored.”

Hudson reassured that BioWare will come back to Mass Effect in time but are currently working on other projects.

It's good to hear that one of the best science-fiction franchises is not dead and will return soon. Despite Andromeda's rough start, the series has potential.
