Everreach: Project Eden wears its inspirations on its sleeve as an action role-playing game (RPG) with science fiction vibes. Players control a body suit-wearing character that the camera follows around with an over-the-shoulder view. Amidst verdant alien expanses, players will engage into shooter combat events, which are enhanced with special skills, such as putting up barriers.

Progression opens up over 80 skills, to let you customize your playstyle. There is also a conversational element with choices on how to react. Aside from these Mass Effect tenets, there's also a hint of Destiny in there. It's possible to hop onto a hoverbike and tackle the open world that way.

Developer Elder Games is a small team that even operated as a single person endeavor for a while. Now, Ede Tarsoly gets accompanied by as few as five employees, along with a handful of freelancers. Among the credits for Everreach: Project Eden are Michelle Clough, who previously did actually work on the Mass Effect trilogy in a writing capacity. Mai-Anh Tran offers their visual expertise from their previous work on movies like Warcraft and Star Trek: Beyond. As a tiny team, this game is reminiscent of budget titles like the Focus Home Interactive stable. Those games usually come with varying amounts of quirks, but can rely on a niche audience. As it's unlikely that the Mass Effect series will see a return soon, this might be a perfect game to fill that void.

Everreach: Project Eden was released on Steam at the tail end of last year, which went by fairly unnoticed. The reception there, however, noted some technical issues that hopefully will run smoother on a universal build, like a console. The PlayStation 4 version is out now for $29.99 or an unequal €29.99.
