Since the cryptocurrency scandal Valve's Steam platform has received a lot of negative backlashes however it still remains the best place for PC games. Nevertheless, Bethesda's upcoming Fallout 76 won't be available on the platform and PC players will have to purchase it from Bethesda.Net.
In an official statement to PC Gamer a Bethesda representative stated:
"The PC version of Fallout 76, for both the B.E.T.A. and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam," a Bethesda rep said in an email.
No reason was given it's likely that Bethesda was to avoid the fees associated with Valve's platform and distribute the game themselves. Considering the widespread popularity of Bethesda games they do have the notoriety to pull something like this off.
In addition, with the beta coming up Bethesda has confirmed that all progression made during the testing phase will carry over the main game.
Fallout 76 will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 14th.
