BioWare's next game Anthem is still a long way from releasing but EA has big plans for the game. At the UBS Global Technology Conference 2017, EA's chief Financial officer noted that the company is focused on bringing new titles that will become franchises.
Jorgensen noted that EA is less focused on brand titles and instead interested in bringing new franchises like Star Wars. Jorgensen stated that EA "been able to bring out some great new titles that have turned into franchises, like the Star Wars activity, like Battlefront, for example, that layer in more franchises over time.” Jorgensen continued, “We’re trying to do that with BioWare’s Anthem game,” adding that the game looks “very exciting” and that BioWare has done an “amazing job.”
EA has stated that Anthem would be a 10-year journey, sharing similarities to Activision's Destiny. Releasing multiple games in a new franchise may give BioWare a chance to address fan feedback following Mass Effect: Andromeda's release.
Anthem is currently scheduled to release sometime in the fall of 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
