Why Did BioWare Not Make Mass Effect 4?

Why Andromeda and not Mass Effect 4?

Mass Effect: Andromeda is a few days away, with EA and Origin Access members getting their hands on the game this week. But many still wonder why BioWare didn't decide to make Mass Effect 4?

According to creative director, Mac Walters, continuing the story from Mass Effect 3 would've shortchanged fans and that the ending for Mass Effect 3 was conclusive.

“We wanted the trilogy to end,” said Walters. Commander Shepard's journey was intended to be a trilogy and end with Mass Effect 3. With Andromeda, the team had a brand new start, free from the events in the Milky Way.

Opinion: It seems that BioWare could've used the unsolved or recently used information from Mass Effect 3 to start a brand new game, such as the Leviathans or Commander Shepard's survival but I understand why BioWare wanted a fresh start. Instead of forcing a sequel they wanted to make something new and risky.

Mass Effect: Andromeda launches for Xbox One, PS4, and PC Origin on March 21.
