Microtransactions, one of the most hated words in the video game world next to season pass and day one patch, will be coming to Mass Effect: Andromeda. In the latest leaked image UK retailer, ShopTo.net appears to have jumped the gun and posted the prices.
Called "Andromeda Points" the in-game currency can be used to purchase Multiplayer packs instead of earning them in the game. The description doesn't state what these packs but I would argue it's likely cosmetic options including avatars to play as.
According to ShopTo.net Andromeda Points will be available in packs of 500 to 1,200 and cost around $5 and $100 USD.
BioWare and EA has confirmed that all multiplayer maps will be free but hopefully, this system won't produce a pay-to-win environment that many gamers fear from microtransactions.
Mass Effect: Andromeda launches on March 21 for Xbox One, PS4, and Origin PC. Those with EA or Origin Access will gain access to 10 hours of single-player content one week before the game launches.
