“The launch of the Scrolls beta was a great success. Tens of thousands of players battled daily, and many of them remain active today. Unfortunately, the game has reached a point where it can no longer sustain continuous development” Mojang wrote on the Scrolls official site. “We’ve had a great time working on Scrolls, and appreciate every last player who’s downloaded out game. Extra big thanks to the most dedicated members of our community; some of you have logged in almost every day since release and dedicated a large portion of your time dominating the headboards and taking care of new players. We salute you, honourable scrolldiers”.

Scrolls launched in December after being in testing for years, and during a legal despite with Bethesda over the title Scrolls. Sold at a premium price instead of being free-to-play, with additional Scrolls (playing cards) available for those willing to spend real-money within the game.

The latest update called Echoes will launch this month as the game’s final add-on content. Mojang has explained that the team will continue to support Scrolls, tweaking balance issues, and won’t shutdown the severs any earlier than July 1, 2016. All additional proceeds will of into supporting the costs for the severs for as long as possible.
