Rollercoaster Tycoon World Gets Trailer, Shows Nothing. Cool?

Rollercoaster Tycoon World is in production, so here's a ramp.

Gamescom 2014 is in full swing and everyone is getting ready to drop their announcement. Same thing goes for publisher Atari, who has officially unveiled Rollercoaster Tycoon World, which is set for PC in early 2015, with a trailer. It reveals, well, not much of anything at all. It’s one of those “just wait for it” sort of trailers. We’re not really sure why these trailers come out in the first place, other than to coax coverage. Well, mission accomplished then.

So, all you’ve got to go on right now is how Atari recently revived Rollercoaster Tycoon as a microtransaction title on mobile devices.  Still, if it’s any consolation, the game’s Twitter feed has announced that it won’t go the same route for the PC title, claiming:

RollerCoaster Tycoon World will be a full PC experience and will be "MicroTransaction free"

You’ll once more be able to build an amusement park from scratch in Rollercoaster Tycoon World. This not only features the titular attraction, but also entails setting up shops, concessions, rides and so on. You’ll be able to taste what work feels like, without actually having to go to a job. Moreover, the game will feature up to four player co-op and the ability to visit other parks or to share blueprints with others.

Rollercoaster Tycoon World is in hands of developer Pipeworks. Their best work includes a few Godzilla fighters two generations ago. Since then, they’ve been keeping busy with some lesser projects, mostly licenses.

If all else fails, please remember that GOG.com sells the classic Rollercoaster Tycoon titles and they’re still as awesome as they’ve ever been. You’ve got options now, you’re not bound to Atari’s teat.
