This morning the publisher behind 2012's Sleeping Dogs and last year's Tomb Raider, Square Enix, announced that a brand new title will be welcomed to their family, titled Life is Strange. DONTNOD Entertainment, the creators of Remember Me, will develop the adventure game set in the fictional town of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, where a high school senior has mysteriously disappeared.

Returning after a five year hiatus, Max Caulfield reunites with an old friend, Chloe, and the pair sets off to unveil the truth behind the disappearance of their classmate. During their reunion, Max finds she has an extraordinary power, the capability to rewind time. With Max's power, players can influence the outcome of the story-driven title, changing the narrative and even "the course of history itself."

Square Enix says that Life is Strange is "wholly different to anything we have ever attempted before, both in gameplay and narrative," and with hand drawn textures, the game is looking like it'll be quite appealing to the eyes.

The entire team at DONTNOD Entertainment seems to be more than ecstatic to be working on their second game, with their creative director, Jean-Max Moris, saying, "Everybody at DONTNOD is excited to be working on such a refreshing title. We’re not only crafting the best game we possibly can, we also feel we’re providing the type of experience that perfectly fits today’s renewed taste for originality and diversity.”

With a slew of episodic games releasing in more recent years, it's refreshing to see that Life is Strange will have a unique twist. Rewinding time will allow players to have even more control of the outcome of the game, making the experience of Life is Strange truly their own.

No release date was revealed with the announcement, but when released, Life is Strange will be digitally available for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.
