Red Dead Redemption, one of the classics of the western-themed games, has recently started being talked about again. Thanks to Rockstar Games’ interest in the title, the port of Red Dead Redemption for the new generation of PlayStation consoles and Nintendo Switch was launched a month ago. Although it did not bring anything new to the table, the port was somewhat successful and made it available on more consoles instead of being stuck on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Today, the PS5 version of Red Dead Redemption received an update out of nowhere. The 1.03 update brought a much-needed change for the game and that is the 60FPS mode. Some people might not know but the Playstation 3 version of Red Dead Redemption was barely playable and constantly ran into issues with the hardware, therefore the Xbox 360 version was way superior. Now, after 13 years, the game returned back to Playstation with flying colors and a stable framerate.

In order to activate the 60FPS mode, you have to go to display settings and enable the “Performance Mode”, this way the framerate will bump up to 60 from 30FPS. It is odd that the same method was used for the 60FPS mode for GTA V’s PlayStation 5 port. 60FPS is not the only new stuff that is been added though, you can also enable subtitles, which is great for people who tend to understand the storyline better and of course, the hearing impaired.

This 60FPS upgrade is exclusive for the PlayStation 5 though, for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions, the game will keep running with a stable 30FPS with no other option to choose from. It is uncertain whether the other ports will receive this update as well, unfortunately, that might not ever happen due to those consoles’ hardware limitations and the lack of interest on Rockstar’s end to optimize those versions to run at 60FPS.
