Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 Will Be Missing Some Features On PC

The PC release of Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 will be missing a key feature.

The highly anticipated Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1, which Konami announced alongside the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater during the 2023 PlayStation Showcase, will not include an important feature for its PC release. The games have been confirmed to be releasing later this year on multiple platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and to the surprise of many, even on the Nintendo Switch.

We currently do not know much about the games, with Konami being extra tight-lipped about most of the details surrounding the collection. However, thanks to some leaked information, we do have confirmation that there does indeed exist a Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, which is to be expected as there are quite a few Metal Gear games missing from the first volume of the collection and considering that the volume is numbered.

Another piece of information that we learned about the games, thanks to a Steam listing that was prematurely added for them, is that the collection seems to be missing a very important feature, especially for PC players. In a screenshot that was shared on Twitter by the user LordEmmerich, it would seem that in order to play the collection on PC, gamers would need to play with a controller. This does make sense as many of the early Metal Gear games were console exclusives, so it would make sense that there would be no mouse and keyboard support.

It is currently not clear as to why the Steam page for the collection was taken down, perhaps it was because it was uploaded too early or perhaps it is because the developers are actively adding in the missing keyboard support. However, it would seem that the lack of keyboard support has been met with outrage by many PC gamers. We will have to wait and see what comes from this whole situation.

There does seem to be some good news, as we also have confirmation that Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 is set to release later this year, sometime in October 2023. With the release date quite a while away, this gives Konami more than enough time to review and reassess the situation, and possibly adjust the collection to ease the concern of the angry PC gamers.

As of writing, Konami has yet to address the outrage over the leaked information about Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 and the collection's lack of keyboard support. While there are the angry few, many fans are still very much excited about the collection and simply cannot wait to re-experience the espionage game series. Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 is set to release later in October.
