Days Gone found new life when released on PC, gaining a huge audience while the PlayStation versions have been stabilized. Following that Ghost of Tsushima's major success of 8 million copies, it former Bend Studio Jeff Ross stated that Days Gone made the same number in sales but is still considered a disappointment.

Days Gone,NoobFeed,

At the time I left Sony, Days Gone had been out for a year and a half (and a month), and sold over 8 million copies. It's since gone on to sell more, and then a million+ on Steam. Local studio management always made us feel like it was a big disappointment. #daysgone #PlayStation https://t.co/KMZr2pGe9r

When speaking with David Jaffe, along with John Garvin who was a creative lead of Days Gone, stated they were kept in the dark about sales. Jeff Ross did state that the reviews and sales were so poor that despite having a pitch for Days Gone 2 ready upper manager never wanted to see it.

Days Gone suffered from major technical issues such as poor textures, audio issues, and other problems. Despite this many loved the game's infection, the Freaker Virus, and the conspiracy theories within the story. It took a very dark turn similar to The Last of Us by portraying ordinary people trying to survive in this deadly new world. Often showing brutal actions such as euthanization, torture, and slavery. Unfortunately, the game ends with a massive cliffhanger in the game's true ending, leaving the story unfinished.

Days Gone is now available for PS4, PS5, and PC.
