Marvel's Avengers New Patch Reveals Personal Information By Accident

Marvel's Avengers pulls a Fallout 76

When Fallout 76 launched it attempted to resolve the Nylon bag situations by offering those who purchased the special edition the ability to get the item that was advertised. This resulted in Bethesda support accidentally leaking personal data due to a loophole in the ticketing procedure. Now Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers has accidentally revealed the personal information of their users, by posting the player's IP address on screen when playing the game.

Marvel's Avengers,NoobFeed,

We are currently testing a solution to the issue of personal information, including the player's IP address and username, being displayed on screen on PS5 and plan to deploy a hotfix tomorrow at around 8AM PT.

Crystal Dynamics are aware of the issue and working to resolve it but it's another mark on this dying live service title. Marvel's Avengers has seen a massive drop in players since its release. This largely due to lackluster updates after the game's release coupled with major issues that were detailed in large novel-like patch details.

The title does have its Black Panther update and Spider-Man PlayStation exclusive DLC coming up but judging from the recently Steamcharts numbers the title does not have a healthy player count needed to sustain a live service. Considering this is a billion-dollar franchise with some of the most notorious characters in entertainment and yet can barely hit 1K players on Steam is problematic. In comparison Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, a brand new single-player IP from FromSoftware released a year before Marvel's Avengers, has nearly 4 times the players actively playing it right now.

Update:

A new patch is available to resolve the issue.
