Activision Blizzard has a lot of bad blood among games and employers. The company is notorious for nickel and diming their players and often punishing their professional players to appease the Chinese Government. Activision has multiple accounts of this such as selling players Red Dot Sight for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 and Blizzard Entertainment in their campaign against Blitzchung after he voiced his concerns over the Hong Kong protests to name a few.
Since the employees have voiced their concerns and some have left, with Mike Morhaime, who co-founded Blizzard, announcing a new company called Dreamhaven.
Dreamhaven CEO Mike Morhaime said of his new adventure:
“I’m excited to team up with such talented people who care deeply about games and their communities. I’ve always believed in the power of games to bring people together regardless of backgrounds or boundaries. With Dreamhaven, we look forward to creating and sharing new experiences with players everywhere.”
The other heads are former Blizzard directors Jason Chayes, Ben Thompson, and Dustin Bowser who helped with Hearthstone, Starcraft II, and Command and Conquer.
The second studio is called Secret Door and is led by more Blizzard seniors Chris Sigaty, Alan Dabiri, and Eric Dodds.
The company doesn't have announcements in terms of projects so we'll have to wait and see. After all these people were responsible for the very games that made Blizzard Entertainment so expect a lot of high expectations.
