For some time now, the team behind Marvel's Avengers has been dropping hints about their upcoming game, set to launch in a couple of weeks. The main villain has been revealed as one of the oldest comic book enemies, MODOK, short for Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. However, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics have not revealed the character's design, save a close-up of his face.

This week, Usman Ally, voice actor for MODOK, revealed his identity alongside a brand new picture of the villain in-game. Previous trailers for the game have confirmed that players will encounter the antagonist as scientist George Tarleton, head of AIM organization. The scientist is set on eradicating all superpowered people from the world, including the Avengers. This obsession leads into his transformation into the MODOK we all love to hate.

In Ally's screenshot, fans can see MODOK's new look. Although he was traditionally portrayed as a giant head with small limbs, sticking out of his hover chair. The game seems to have taken a few creative liberties, giving him a proper body and a weaponized chair, though his head is still rather large.

During an interview with ComicBook.com, Ally discussed his surprise at being offered the role, and even detailed the character arc. "In terms of how George becomes this creature, this thing and how so much of it is driven by his ambition to help people, I think there is a genuine belief that what he is doing is for the betterment of human beings and that strong, strong sense of self and his position in society, wanting to do more, is what continues to drive him. I found that to be some of the really fascinating stuff and how that gets blasted with one's ego or one's own insecurities coming to the fore. He's a very complex character."

Because of the character's unique design and character arc, MODOK has not appeared in other Marvel adaptations, so this is a welcome change for the Marvel Universe. Although Marvel has tried to incorporate the scientist into its cinematic universe before, the live-action New Warriors series that was set to feature him was cancelled. However, it seems like he will be claiming the center stage when Marvel's Avengers launches on September 4, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with a next-generation launch following.
