The franchise bears a striking resemblance to the classic Command & Conquer series.

Publisher Ziggurat Interactive has cleverly released Krush Kill 'N Destroy (KKND), as well as its sequel Krush Kill 'N Destroy 2: Krossfire at the right time. These real-time strategy (RTS) games of old are out now on Steam and GOG.

What makes this release less than coincidental is that the franchise bears a striking resemblance to the classic Command & Conquer series. It just so happens that the latter received a remaster treatment very recently by Electronic Arts, who now owns the property. At the time of their original release, the KKND games were often critiqued for simply banking off the success of Command & Conquer. Even the Noclip documentary about the remaster, which came at the same time as the release, picks Krush Kill 'N Destroy as the prime example of a copycat. Now, more than twenty years later, it seems the KKND series is back to ride those coattails.

The copied style, however, does also work in Krush Kill 'N Destroy's favor. The series has some cult status among RTS fans and has a unique atmosphere to its post-apocalyptic gameplay. The Mad Max vibes have players fighting for oil, includes mutant units and even missile crabs. Who doesn't like a crab with missiles?

Krush Kill 'N Destroy is following Command & Conquer again, Final Fantasy VII is back, a new Crash Bandicoot is coming; the 90s are really back in full swing. Who knows what could be pulled back from the depths? Personally, I haven't stopped thinking about that Nightmare Creatures remake ever since it was announced. Your predictions are appreciated in the comments.

Publisher Ziggurat Interactive is currently working on other classics to bring back to modern setups. Aside from Krush Kill 'N Destroy, the company also has titles like Bloodrayne or Advent Rising under its belt.
