The PlayStation 5 reveal event is on the horizon, and many people are abuzz with hopes and speculation. Recently, the writer of the original Dead Space, Anthony Johnston, revealed that he has been working on a game for the past two years, and implies that it will come to PlayStation 5.
What the actual mystery game consists of is currently unknown. Johnston is mostly known in the game industry for unsettling games like ZombiU and Binary Domain, but has an expansive portfolio including Shadow of Mordor, The Assembly and RIGS: Mechanized Combat League. Johnston is also the original writer behind The Coldest City comic series, which was adapted into the film Atomic Blonde; and did a run on Marvel’s Daredevil.
It is unlikely an actual Dead Space entry, as studio Visceral Games was shutdown in 2017. Though, publisher Electronic Arts still owns the rights to the franchise and could assign development of a new game to another team. Johnston’s credentials provide no other insights, as he is a freelance writer not currently employed by a single developer or publisher.
The PlayStation event scheduled for June 11 should provide more details.
