The second season of the acclaimed concert The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses is a spectacle any fan of the Zelda series would love. Named after the plus mode on the first Zelda game after completion, Second Quest adds new orchestrated material from Link’s Awakening, Spirits Tracks, The Wind Waker and Skyward Sword, as well as it preserves previous material from Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past and Twilight Princess.
For those unfamiliar with the Symphony of the Goddesses, it is a symphonic concert celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda that toured across the world during 2013.Susie Benchasil Seiter, the director, and Chad Seiter, musical director and arranger, were the ones in charge of the orchestration of several of the most iconic musical pieces in the franchise’s history, originally composed by Koji Kondo, into a four movement symphony and several other pieces.
Along with the exceptional orchestration, Symphony of the Goddesses features footage from the games the music comes from, but not merely as visual effects, but as a full cinematic experience that takes the spectator deeply into the heart of each game and producing a chills and tears. Personally, the most exciting moments for me were the Link’s Awakening Medley –especially when the Wind Fish is awakened- and the introductory music for The Wind Waker –I feel nothing but love for that game’s intro-. As you may notice, I'm a huge Zelda fan, proof of that is my editorial The Legend of Zelda: A Tale for the Ages.

This new program adds about 30 minutes of new material from the previous season of the concert and enriches the experience with updated visuals on The Wind Waker, which now shows footage from the HD remake for the Wii U. A medley of Majora’s Mask and new tracks from The Wind Waker (Dragon Roost Island) and Skyward Sword (Ballad of the Goddess) are added to the repertoire. Perhaps, the only thing I missed during the concert was The Song of Storms.
The concert is, as a whole, a sensorial journey through Hyrule and its history. An immersive experience no fan should miss on knowing. Unfortunately, Monday’s show in Mexico City was the penultimate in the tour. The last show will be December 14th in San José, California. Rumors estate that this concert will not be repeated, for it was a one-time only celebration. However, it was so successful that such a scenario is rather unlikely.
To wrap things up, The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses. Second Quest is an amazing tribute to, both, the games and the gamers, a magnificent visual and auditive experience that will make you laugh, cry and excite as you travel across the magical land of Hyrule.
