Android Versions of Fortnite Not Coming to Google Play

Epic wants a "direct relationship" with their customers

Google Play is one of the biggest marketplaces for Android devices but Epic Games has decided not to release their popular title Fortnite on the digital store.

Speaking to The Verge, CEO of Epic Games Time Sweeney spoke about the summer release for the Android version of the game. 

“Epic wants to have a direct relationship with our customers on all platforms where that’s possible,” Sweeney told The Verge over email. “The great thing about the Internet and the digital revolution is that this is possible, now that physical storefronts and middlemen distributors are no longer required.”

This would allow Epic to maximize profits as Google takes 30% from games distributed through their store.

Fortnite is available on early access for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, Mac, and iOS, and will be coming to Android sometime this summer.
