NetherRealms Studios, known for Mortal Kombat and Injustice, has been in the center of a rumor that the next Mortal Kombat game will be Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe 2. Unfortunately, that's not true and it's coming straight from the creators Twitter.

Ed Boon changed his Twitter picture to depict the image of Scorpion and Batman which made many wonders if a sequel to the 2008 fighting game. Not only did Boon deny the rumors but state that NetherRealms is working on a new title.
It's likely that the next game will be a new installment in Mortal Kombat since Injustice 2 development has ceased but no confirmation has been made.
