Guild Wars 2,NoobFeed,Arenanet,

Writers Jessica Price and Peter Fries were let go by the company after the Guild Wars 2 community came the user's defense after commenting on a post from Jessica Price on Twitter regarding the writing process for Guild Wars 2 on July 3rd. Deroir provided his opinion on the topic become Price responded with:

Today in being a female game dev:

"Allow me–a person who does not work with you–explain to you how you do your job."

Price continued to play the gender card causing the tweets to go viral on the Guild Wars 2 subreddit after Peter Fries jump into the conversation with now-deleted tweets.but were saved by those following the conversation:

“Here’s a bit of insight that I legitimately hope he reflects on: she never asked for his feedback. These are our *private* social media accounts – imagine you’re an astronomer and you start sharing some things you’ve learned in the last few months since you began a research project observing Saturn, only to have observation techniques explained to you by a layman.”

The result ended with the President and Co-founder of ArenaNet Mike O'Brien confirming the termination of the 2 writers on the official Guild Wars 2 website.

Recently two of our employees failed to uphold our standards of communicating with players. Their attacks on the community were unacceptable. As a result, they’re no longer with the company.

I want to be clear that the statements they made do not reflect the views of ArenaNet at all. As a company we always strive to have a collaborative relationship with the Guild Wars community. We value your input. We make this game for you.

While some may state this was extreme and the 2 should've apologized when working with a company your words not only represent yourself but the people you work for. Considering that the conversation started in a public social media account on Twitter it was going to be picked up by people who are interested, in this case, fans of  Guild Wars 2.  Attacking a member of your community and assuming their intent was malicious within a calm conversation made to add to the discussion was extreme. These are your fans and most importantly the reason Guild Wars 2 exist.
