Sea of Thieves if Rare and Microsoft's next massive game, with a completely built pirate life with looting treasure, travelling the seas, and locating treasure. However, the game's character creation system is somewhat lacking compared to other games like Fallout 4. In a recent interview with Eurogamer Rare's studio director Craig Duncan explained the system.
For those unaware, the system being used is the Infinite Pirate Generator. Players chose from 8 pirates randomly generated in a virtual tavern. Duncan explained that:
It will encourage players to pick a character who wouldn't normally be a character they would create in a character creator. It's not about just making ourselves. Also, I love this notion of, it gives you your own Rare character to go and play the game with.
Sea of Thieves launches on Xbox One and Windows 10 March 20th. It'll feature Microsoft's "Play Anywhere" featuring, allowing you to play on Windows 10 and Xbox One without losing any progress.
