Assassin's Creed Origins set a new pace for the long-running franchise with new RPG elements and a refined combat system. Now the series is taking another step in uncharted territory, a Discovery Mode meant to educate people in the world of Ancient Egpyt.
The mode was announced months ago, but Ubisoft has confirmed it'll release on February 20th as a free update to all players. PC gamers can purchase the mode as a stand-alone purchase for $19.99 on Uplay or Steam.
The mode allows players to travel throughout the entire open world without any way of dying for educational purposes. With 75 different guided tours explaining Egypt's culture, 5 main themes based on specific Egyptian topics, and other significant information about Egypt, the Pyramids, Alexandria, Egyptian Daily Life, and the Romans.
Each tour is about 25 minutes long and players can pick their own character to play as, with up to 25 available. This includes Bayek, Aya, Cleopatra, and Caesar. Photo mode will be included along with achievements/trophies.
This is a major step forward for the series as Ubisoft is known for recreating authentic worlds based on achieved knowledge. Creating an interactive educational mode like Discovery Mode would allow players to better understand how much time went into crafting such amazing worlds and understand the historical background.
Assassin's Creed Origins is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
