This now puts the PS4 at around 73 million units sold. Additionally, 55.9 PS4 games were sold this season digitally and in stores. Despite strong sales, this number is still down from the previous year, with 6.2 million consoles sold in holiday 2016.

Sony’s President and CEO John Kodera spoke about the company’s sales throughout the holiday season. Kodera also revealed new figures for the PlayStation Plus subscription service, which is now over 31 million subscribers.

Thanks to the continued support from our fans across the globe, we are honored to announce remarkable sales during the holiday season. PlayStation Network continues to demonstrate spectacular growth, with the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers surpassing 31.5 million, and PS Store recording its largest-ever monthly sales of content in December 2017.

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to our community and our partners for helping us achieve such phenomenal milestones. We promise our unwavering commitment to bring more amazing experiences to our fans, including exclusive games and innovative network services, as PS4 continues to flourish as the best place to play.

It shouldn't be surprising that Sony's PS4 is continuing to sell. 2017 has a lot of major exclusive games on the system including NieR: Automata, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Nioh, and Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy and 2018 is looking just as good for Sony. With games such as God of War and The Last of Us Part 2 on everyone's minds.
