Call of Duty: WWII launched last month but it already made a lot of money, becoming the best selling console game of 2017 according to a report published by the NPD Group.
The statistics are based on NA figures but despite this, it shows that the Call of Duty franchise is still one of the most acclaimed franchises in video games. Returning to its roots the game has been mostly positively received by critics and gamers. This shouldn't come as a surprise that it sold better than the previous Call of Duty game, Infinite Warfare, within its launch period.
Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision, made a statement in resp0nse to NPD’s announcement, thanking the fans for their unwavering support:
“As proud as we are of Call of Duty: WW2, we’re equally proud that our talented teams have found ways to keep Call of Duty fresh, relevant and on top of the charts for nearly a decade—an amazing feat. Thanks to the greatest fans in the world for their passion and engagement with this awesome franchise.”
In recent Call of Duty: WWII news, a winter event called Winter Siege is currently happening and adds Gun Game to the game's rotation. In addition, players can earn double experience, a free loot box each week, and winter-themed items.
Call of Duty: WWII is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
