Those following Call of Duty: WWII already knows that Sledgehammer Games plans to paint a graphic image of WW2. It would seem that one scene, in particular, had to be modified in the Australian release of the game.
According to the Australian Classification Board, the game was rated R18+ back in August and rerated R18+ again this week. The difference being the removal of the classification "threat of sexual violence".
According to Kotaku the modified scene had one of the character's, Rousseau, infiltrating a German-controlled building. Inside a woman is being dragged into the closet by a Nazi soldier and the player is given an option to kill him. If not a sound is heard of the soldier unzipping his pants.
The new scene has the woman wearing pants instead of a skirt and the unzipping audio removed.
In the past Call of Duty games with controversial scenes would have the option for the player to avoid these situations with an altered version. This was included in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's airport massacre, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's child death scene, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 child soldier scene. Whether Activision will apply the same option for WW2 is yet to be seen.
Call of Duty: WW2 releases on November 3, 2017 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
