Announced back in December 2016, during The Game Awards, and developed by Phoenix Labs, a studio which is home to people who've worked at studios such as Riot Games, Blizzard and Capcom, Dauntless is now playable to people who've purchased (or plan on purchasing) one of the game's Founder's Packs. The Founder's Alpha is currently live (ending on the 30th of August), followed by the Closed Beta which will begin on the 1st of September. Founder's Alpha access will cost you $79.99 while, those with a bit more patience, can get into the closed beta by purchasing either the Slayer Pack ($39.99) or the Hero Pack ($69.99). As expected, the higher the price, the more goodies to be found inside.
Dauntless takes place in a world shattered by a cataclysm, with the remaining humans battling against large monsters. There's no character leveling in Dauntless. Instead, power is determined by gear which, in turn, is crafted using items dropped by downed monsters (called Behemoths). Players can take these monsters on by themselves or in a party of up to four people. Dauntless has an expected release date of Q4 2017. Dauntless will be a free-to-play title upon release and is coming to PC. Head on over to the game's website for more info.
