With the announcement of Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford answered a few questions on Twitter regarding the game. Some were asking if those who own the original game can upgrade to the Full Clip Edition either free or at a discounted price.

Pitchford confirmed that this version of Bulletstorm will be a standalone purchase and will not have an upgraded option. The simple answer being ownership of the IP, which is owned by EA, and that Gearbox can only work with the Full Clip Edition of the game.

This is understandable and it's clear that the game is targeted for people who didn't experience the game when it released in 2011. The game was meant to turn into a franchise but due to poor sales the sequel was cancelled. Perhaps if this version does well Gearbox could make another Bulletstorm.

Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition launches on April 7th, 2017 for PS4, PC and Xbox One.
