Tatsumi Kimishima, President of Nintendo, wants to repeat the same effect Pokémon GO had on the public with Super Mario Run.

In an interview with Bloomberg Kimishima stated:

"In terms of expectations, we all saw what happened when we delivered Pokemon Go. And honestly I was quite surprised by it myself. There's no doubt that more people are using smartphones to play games. And as this time we're using Mario, that's a very important intellectual property for us. And that's what Miyamoto's team is working on now: making sure it spreads out just as quickly as Pokemon Go."

Kimishima did mention that the game will include a "fixed price" after playing "a certain part of it". This could assume that repeating stages could require some sort of purchase.

Kimishima went on to explain that the smartphone business is to help "sell a lot of existing packages" but have no "interest in switching" their "customers".

"Depending on the kind of software that comes out, families and kids will be able to play too. The titles we did show, those are games that for people who understand they will grasp it right away, but for families and kids, we want them to understand by actually experiencing it."

It's clear that Nintendo is keeping their mobile division separate from their console departments. Meaning that mobile title will focus on already established IPs.

Super Mario Run launches in 150 countries this December.
