After Pokémon Uranium's launch it shouldn't come to a surprise that Nintendo would eventually shut the fan-made game down.
Launching last week after years in development Pokémon Uranium went on to gross 1.5 million downloads in the past week. According to the development team they've been notified by Nintendo multiple takedown notices and elected to pull the download links from their page.
"While we have not personally been contacted, it's clear what their wishes are, and we respect those wishes deeply," the developers said in a statement on the game's website. That said, "We have no connection to fans who reupload the game files to their own hosts, and we cannot verify that those download links are all legitimate. We advise you to be extremely cautious about downloading the game from unofficial sources."
Pokémon Uranium launched on Windows PC on August 6th and had 150 new Pokémon added to the game. It's a non-canon title set in the Tandor region where many of the original Pokémon were mutant due to radiation.
Pokémon Uranium grows the growing list of fan-made projects being forced to shutdown. Recently AM2R, a remake of Metroid 2 for the PC, was closed down by Nintendo.
This doesn't mean that Pokémon Uranium can be provided by other fans who've downloaded the game.
