Ubisoft wasn’t kidding when they promised to punish cheaters and those who used exploits, they plan to make good on their promise this week.

Following the Falcon Lost Incursion exploit community manager, Natchai Stappers, made it clear to all Division players that there would be repercussions for this using the exploit. In a blog post Ubisoft confirmed that they would be “Handing out the biggest wave of suspensions and bans to date over the course of the next few days”.

When identified those using the exploit the new cheat engine will give the player a 14 day suspension instead of the previous 3. Ubisoft has also stated that character rollbacks will be issued as a plenty. If the player continues their malicious activities a permanent ban will be issue.

"Identifying and fixing bugs before releasing new content is one of the most important parts of game development. This is also the best way to guarantee a smooth and enjoyable experience for our players. Learning from the past and your great feedback, we are currently reviewing our development and testing process to further minimize the amount and impact of these bugs going forward.

Unfortunately, we cannot simulate the experience that millions of different players will have, and how they will play the game. As a result, some bugs may make it through testing, and may be present when an update is deployed. In the event that a bug makes it into the game, and this bug can be used by players to gain an advantage, we need to be able to react and fix it, but also dissuade players from exploiting this bug until it is fixed. This is why moving forward we will adopt a stronger stance against players abusing exploits.”

If you encounter a bug or glitch by accident Ubisoft has confirmed you will not be punished.

What do you think? Should players be punished for using an exploit due to buggy programming or is Ubisoft in the right since it gives players an unfair advantage over others who play the game fairly? Let us know in the comments below!

The Division is now available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
