Update 2.2.0 is coming April 12th will add brand new loot and activities, five new sets of armor, the return of year one exotics, new cosmetic options, and much more.

New Light Cap

The new Light cap is 335.

New Difficulty

Harder difficulty has been added with better awards. This includes heroic strikes, Nightfalls, and the King’s Fall raid. Normal mode will drop 320 Light, Hard Mode 330 Light, and The Court of Orynx with 335 Light.

New Challenges

To obtain the new loot you’ll need to conquer Destiny’s many new challenges. While some are repeats of older quest there are two new strikes, new quest lines, and the Prison of Elders will have dynamic changes for the next 16 weeks.

Challenge of the Elders

This new end-game activity is a remastered version of the Prison of Elders. Only Guardians with the new 335 Light cap are allowed to enter. To reach this cap players will have to tackle Hard Mode in The King’s Fall raid, the hardest difficulty in The Prison of Elders, the Iron Banner, and The Court of Oryx..

Prison of Elders will now be set two difficulties, level 41 and level 42.

Four new bosses and new modifiers will be added.

Level 41 includes match-making, has a recommended Light level of 260, and sticks to the normal PoE format. This drops gear up to 320 Light.

Level 42 will be called Challenge of the Elders, has no match-making, comes with a recommended Light level of 320 and is a point-based activity through which you can win 335 weapons and armour.

Challenge of the Elders is fought over three rounds, each with a boss. Your fireteam’s score is tracked on a card called the Elder’s Sigil.

High Score and Cumulative Score are both tracked. If a High Score of 30,000 is hit during a run, players will be awarded a guaranteed 335 weapon. If 90,000 Cumulative Score is hit over each week, players will be awarded a guaranteed 335 armour piece.

Challenge of the Elders resets every Tuesday, wiping your Cumulative Score.

The Challenge of the Elders is promised “a total of sixteen unique encounters” based on variations of bosses and gameplay modifiers in each of the three waves. So that’s four months of shooting before you see its content repeating.

Blighted Chalice Strike

This new mission will have players going against a TEken hulk called Malok.

Winters Run Strike

Players will face the Archon Priest, with either heroic or taken options now available.

New Armor Set

Five new armor sets are coming, three which are revamped faction sets. One for Dead Orbit, One for New Monarchy, and One for Future War Cult. The other two are completely new, one called the Spektar Amor is designed specially for Chroma and Taken themed armor called Desolate.

Sterling Treasure

This new consumable will give new armor pieces and Chroma to color weapons and armor. You can three per week; everyone gets one from the Postmaster; one from completing a match at the Crucible; and one for completing a level 41 run in the Prison of Elders. You can also purchase them with real money from Tess Everis in the Tower.

Infusion System Changed

Infusions will change to give 1-1 levels. This means infusing a 330 item with a 310 will give you a 320 item, no more approximations.

Chroma

For those wanting more customizing Chroma is what you’ve been waiting for. This adds color-shading to both weapons and armor. Choosing from blue, red, and yellow you can re-roll Chroma-capable gear with the color you want.

Year-One Gear and Exotics

Year-one weapons are being given an upgrade, In addition year-one exotics are returning.

New Emotes

There are going to be a lot of emotes available for sale. However those wanting the Taken Shiver emote will have to get the entire Taken-themed armor set to earn it.

PlayStation Exclusive Weapon

Sorry Xbox players, the Zen Meteor rifle is coming to Destiny for PlayStation owners only.

Hub Optional

You can choose to turn all the HUD features on or off.

Remember Bungie has one more stream to highlight all the PvP changes coming to Update 2.2.0. It’ll air on April 6th.
