Slain! Takes Its Gorey Adventure To Kickstarter

Slain! wants you to get, well, slain.

Action adventure Slain!, which we’ll mention without punctuation henceforth, has started its Kickstarter campaign to amass a humble $12,000. Some may link this dark 2D pixel art to such classics as Castlevania. One thing’s certain; it’s going to get bloody.

This self-proclaimed throwback to the earlier gaming era will feature the standard platform elements, puzzles, traps and boss fights. Naturally, this comes with an extensive combat section as well, which features timely combos that can be crucial to replenish magic. The developers are aiming for that ol’ Dark Souls “so hard it hurts” sort of thing everyone is into these days. As far as inspirations go, the campaign states that Slain wants to channel titles like Altered Beast, Shadow of The Beast and Ghosts 'n Goblins. That last one in particular is a platform nightmare burned into our retinas, but in a good way.

Since the start of the campaign only a few dozen hours ago, the team has already reached more than half of its target, so it looks like their goal won’t be too hard to cross. They have 28 more days to get it done, so that should be more than doable. Early bird specials have already vanished with the wind, but a copy still starts at a $15 pledge. Its largest tier stays to a justifiable $250, which features a custom figurine of Slain’s hero.

An Xbox One version of Slain is already confirmed. With the Kickstarter campaign, the developer also wants to see if there’s any interest to bring the platform game to either Playstation 4 or PS Vita. Of course, PC fans won’t need to worry, as it’s also coming to Steam.
