343 Industries Offering Free Content As An Apology For Halo: The Master Chief Collection Issues

Gamers getting Halo: ODST Remastered from 343 Industries as an apology

After the disappointing launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection Microsoft is hoping their latest gift will entice gamers to forgive them. Bonnie Ross, head of Halo developer 343 Industries, announced today that gamers will gain access to a free version of Halo 3: ODST and added multiplayer content for Halo 2 as a token of their forgiveness. This includes an updated version of Halo 3:ODST that will run at 60fps and 1080p resolution, Relic from Halo 2’s multipalyer, 1 month of Xbox Live Gold, Exclusive in-game nameplate and exclusive in-game avatar.

“This has been a humbling experience and highlighted how we as a studio can - and need - to do better for Xbox fans around the world. We are so grateful to our fans who have stood by our side and we appreciate all your patience as we worked through these issues.”

These offers are only available for those who purchased and played Halo: The Master Chief Collection between its launch, 11/11/2014, through 12/19/2014 and played the game at least once.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection was released on November 11, 2014 and contains Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary Edition, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3 and Halo 4 all on one disc running at 60fps and 1080p. While the game has seen positive reviews, a lot of them highlighting the legacy of this popular franchise, the multiplayer content didn't receive the same positivity. With unresponsive match-making severs and continuous multiplayer issues gamers were plague with enduring a troubling multiplayer experience for what is consider one of the greatest console competitive shooters of all time. Perhaps this gift will entice gamers to forgive, after all everyone loves free games.
