Publisher Deep Silver has launched preorders for Escape Dead Island, a spinoff from the series that will cater to the last generation of consoles and PC. It’s possible to purchase the game ahead of time on Steam, where it has a 15% discount until November 3, 2014.

Those who preorder a copy of Escape Dead Island will be given guaranteed access to an upcoming Beta event for Dead Island 2, the main continuation of the series on the latest consoles. You’ll need to wait for the Beta site to go live on November 18, 2014 to put in your game key and be registered for access. Additionally, those who preorder will receive a choice of platform for the Beta event, so it’s not just possible to play on PC, but also Playstation 4 or Xbox One, if so desired.

Escape Dead Island is a singleplayer-only release that will be centered on a mysterious story. Protagonist Cliff Calo travels to Banoi of the Dead Island series to uncover the strange events happening there for his father, a media mogul. Xian Mei, one of several unlikable characters from the original releases, will also be in the game. Instead of playing on Banoi itself, however, the story will take place on Narapela, one of the neighboring islands of the archipelago. Escape Dead Island also serves as a prelude to Dead Island 2, as it links the events from the main iterations together.

Dead Island has the honors of transcending a yearly release franchise by now. In its three years of existence, the series has pooped out five games in total. Dead Island: Epidemic, a free-to-play multiplayer game, is currently also on Steam via Early Access.

Escape Dead Island will release on November 18, 2014 in North America and a few days later, on November 21, in Europe.
