Sony Computer Entertainment Japan Boss Retires Ahead of Tokyo Game Show

President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Japan, Hiroshi Kawano, is retiring from his position and the company on August 31. Sony Computer Entertainment Japan announced today of Kawano's retirement.

Kawano joined the company in 1985 and oversaw the company in various divisions that included General Manager of Sony Europe and Senior Vice President of Consumer Sales. Kawano was a significant figure in the launches, and related product announcements, of Sony's latest console offerings such as the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation 4.

On September 1 Atsushi Morita will succeed Kawano as president of SCEJ. Morita formerly served Sony as vice president of adminstration and control. Morita will have to step into the shoes of Kawano during the Tokyo Game Show as the figurehead of Sony-related products during the video game convention.

TGS 2014 will run from September 18-21 in the Makuhari Messe Convention Centre at Chiba, Japan.
