Publisher Deep Silver has acquired the Homefront intellectual property and related assets from Crytek as the company goes through its “transitional phase”. Homefront: The Revolution was under production at Crytek UK, with recent reports declaring that production had stopped and the game’s director, Has it Zala, resigned.
The game is now in development by the newly founded Nottingham-based Deep Silver Dambuster Studio which will take over development of the entire franchise.
Homefront: The Revolution was originally in development by Kaos Studios and published by THQ before the company went bankrupt in December 2012. Homefront’s IP was then sold to Crytek for $54,000. All that time and money investing into Homefront: The Revolution only to be sold to another developer.
Crytek UK and Crytek have evaded numerous financial rumors with a number of senior staff members leaving the company. Currently Crytek hasn’t released a new report still claiming to moving from being a development studio to an online publisher.
