Last week Nintendo cut their projected profit of 55 billion yen to 25 billion yen causing a large drop in the stock. Today Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata spoke about Nintendo's future plans to boost sales and reach a larger audience to increase profits for the next fiscal year. Iwata explained that Nintendo DS titles will be coming to the Wii U's current library, the "company will license Nintendo game character rights to new partners", and new non-wearable devices that monitor your health will become available. More information about these health related products are slated to be revealed during the start of 2014's fiscal year and run until March 2016.

Iwata explained that "he's not aiming for shirt term revenue boost" but wants to bring more information to potential customers about Nintendo using applications. The DS is planned to be the "main driver for profit for the next fiscal year" according to Iwata and Nintendo wants to build an efficient marketing campaign. Currently Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. forecasted sales are predicted to be high.

Iwata also explained why Japan sales were higher than other markets, stating it was because "marketing got divided between pushing for 3DS and Wii U console and in the end both never "exploded."" and admitted that "This was the worst year-end shopping season since I became president. We need to rebuild as soon as possible,".

Iwata plans to increase focus on their user platform to encourage software makers to support their console. He stated that "strong support from makers of content that is popular with Nintendo's main customer base of children and families, but enthusiasm is lower among other software makers."

What do you think, are Nintendo's future projects, goals and projections correct? • Nintendo needs to come back to reality. They are aiming for all markets while saying they are really aiming for a "younger" audience. They are recycling titles that will only give them a temporary boost. They need fresh ideas, they need to get their act together. and if they REALLY want to get back into the game, they need to realize that their strongest audience, are the people who bought their systems back in the 80's and 90's. not the little 12 year olds they aim for now. If they really want that long term boost, all they have to do is announce a proper console version of Pokemon at this point. of course, they would need to make it more adult themed as well.
