Microsoft Game Studios Acquires Rights to 'Gears of War' Franchise

Gears of War franchise rides from Epic Games to Microsoft control.

Microsoft has confirmed that they've purchased the rights to the Gears of War trademark from Epic Games. Instead of Epic, Black Tusk Studios has been charged with developing future games in the franchise in addition to a new triple-A project, that was announced last June for the Xbox One.

Former Director of Production at Epic Games for the Gears of War franchise, Ron Fergusson, has confirmed that he will be joining Black Tusk Studio. Since it's release in 2006, Microsoft has published each Gears of War game, the last being Gears of War Judgement. No information yet on what the next Gears of War will be titled. I wonder how Cliff Bleszinski feels about this, but than again he's no longer with Epic Games.
