Spelunky Finally Out On PS3 And PS Vita

It's worth every penny.

It has been over a year since Spelunky debuted on the XBox Live Arcade, and a few weeks since it arrived on Steam, but Spelunky is finally out on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita.

For those of you who have been living under a rock for the past year, Spelunky is an indie action-adventure game created by Derek Yu and Andy Hull.  It was originally released as freeware way back in 2008, and was quite similar to its predecessors like Lode Runner and Spelunker, but if you ever wanted to be Indiana Jones in 2D environment (and back then that's all we had), these were the games for you.  The developers released an enhanced version of the game for XBox Live Arcade on July 4th, 2012 and on Steam on August 8, 2013.

You play as a spelunker who explores a randomly-generated cave while collecting treasures, saving damsels in distress, and avoiding the multiple perilous deathtraps and enemies along the way.

The gameplay is simple to learn and fun as hell.  X to jump, square to whip, triangle to throw up grappling hooks, and circle to drop bombs.  No two maps are ever the same.  There is a single-player adventure mode, as well as a local and online multiplayer co-op and deathmatch for up to 4 players, which can lead to some hilarious results.

PlayStation Plus members can now pick it up on the PlayStation Store for a mere $11.99, and it's worth every penny.
