Once legendary rivals have joined forces. Sega and Nintendo have entered an exclusive partnership for the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The new agreement will make Nintendo consoles the first destination for the next 3 Sonic the Hedgehog games. The next installment in the Mario and Sonic: Olympus series, that takes place in Sochi, Russia, and Sonic: Lost World was announced on Nintendo Diect today as exclusive titles on Nintendo's consoles. The third game was not announced.

According to Jurgen Post, COO of Sega Europe, "Sonic the hedgehog has performed incredibly well on Nintendo platforms and this exclusive partnership is a natural fit for the next evolution of Sonic games" and "The Wii U and Nintendo 3DS are ideal platforms to showcase Sonic and we are looking forward to working with Nintendo on these three exciting adventures."
