The upcoming action-adventure game UNKNOWN 9: AWAKENING tells the story of Haroona, a Quaestor graced with the power to explore the Fold, a strange reality that exists alongside our own. While searching for profoundly secret information, she will become adept at using her special link to the Fold to bring its energies into our reality. This kind of influence, however, is not ignored. The Ascendants, a breakaway group from the shadowy Leap Year Society that plans to utilize the Fold to change humanity's past, immediately set their sights on Haroona.
Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc., developer of UNKNOWN 9: AWAKENING, which is based on Reflector Entertainment's unique IP, provided additional details about the game's environment and story today. The new stroy trailer debuted during the Summer Game Fest livestream and features Anya Chalotra's (famous for her role in The Witcher Series) character, Haroona, and her world tour. To rescue humanity and get revenge for her mentor's death, players assume the role of the enigmatic Quaestor Haroona, who was born with the ability to pull power from another dimension.
In the latest trailer, it is revealed that Haroona has always sought guidance from her cherished mentor, Reika, to grasp powers connected to the Fold, an enigmatic dimension that intersects with our own. Reika has been teaching Haroona about the complexities of this parallel universe and its secrets since she was a little girl. She has also filled her in on the world's myths and legends, particularly those involving the mysterious immortals known as the Unknown 9.
Vincent Lichter's decision to kill Reika's life put an immediate end to all of her training. Having served as head of the Ascendants for so long, Vincent believes that the Unknown 9 have prevented mankind from achieving its full potential. Vincent, a former student of Reika's, vowed to end their dominion over the planet and make sure humanity chooses its fate no matter what. He must be stopped because his treachery has taken too much from Haroona. Does Haroona have what it takes to keep the world's most sensitive information from getting into the wrong hands? Guess we'll find out when UNKNOWN 9: AWAKENING will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam this fall.
