The Precinct, A GTA-like Open-World Sandbox Releasing Soon

The Precinct is like Grand Theft Auto, except it's for the good guys.

Among the very few games that give you a chance to experience what it is like to be a cop, the name L.A. Noire will probably come to your mind first, and perhaps Sleeping Dogs, Max Payne 3, or for some, Police Simulator: Patrol Officers. The open-world sandbox game American Fugitive developed by Fallen Tree Games and launched in 2019, is not a game that many of us are familiar with. Though critics gave the game mixed reviews, it failed to attract the players the developers had anticipated.

Fallen Tree Games likely began developing a new game when American Fugitive didn't meet their expectations, even though the studio has made no official announcement about any new project until Jun 2023. Then the announcement of their upcoming The Precinct alters the course of events dramatically. It's an upcoming sandbox police simulation set in an isometric viewpoint, and it was recently revealed by Kwalee. Fallen Tree Games merges the complexities of police routine with open-world adventure, as the game allows you to assume the role of a beat cop with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department. To put it simply, it is the opposite of Grand Theft Auto.

The captivating title A Day in Averno City trailer was only recently made available last week and offered an insight into the thrilling journey waiting for players. The trailer follows the regular life of a beat cop as he navigates the hectic streets of Averno City. The narration is provided by Lewis Boadle, who is the Art Director at Fallen Tree Games. Boadle showed the gameplay mechanics, providing a tempting glimpse of what is to come within this fast-paced environment.

The Precinct is a tribute to the golden age of police dramas. It blends realistic police simulation elements with action-packed sandbox scenarios as you fight both powerful and small-time criminals by responding to calls for help and patrolling the streets. You get to decide how to handle exciting pursuits and gunfights depending on your fight against Averno's gangs and other activities ranging from parking violations to bank robberies, street racing to drug deals. The special feature of The Precinct is that it manages the complexities of a police operation with the thrill of open-world adventure intuitively.

Averno City is a large city that is brimming with life and mystery, and you'll take on the role of law enforcement officials who are responsible for preserving order in the location. As you travel through an engaging universe, you will be on patrol, ensuring that order is maintained in the huge metropolis of Averno City. You will cover dynamically created events, ranging from minor traffic stops to comprehensive police investigations. While engaging in exciting car chases in different settings that are subject to destruction, you'll make an effort to deliver justice to the chaotic city and regain control.

As you protect citizens and investigate the circumstances surrounding them, you will be immersed in a world filled with plenty of procedurally generated criminal activities. You, as an investigator, you'll find yourself immersed in a neon-noir action sandbox where gangs control the streets and corruption permeates every aspect of the metropolis. Regardless of the choices you make, your town and the lives of the people living there will be influenced by those choices.

Averno City's criminal underworld is constantly evolving, and you get the chance to investigate it, where you'll have to deal with ritzy people, homeless people, angry cab drivers, and street vendors. But you'll have to wait till Kwalee announces a release date for The Precinct since the new trailer only mentioned the game's release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC later this year.
